about

Between 2001 and 2002, Saturday played between 20 or 25 shows total, all in the metro Detroit area, maybe one rare Chicago gig here or there. The project was completely in its infancy, and this blown out, chatty recording captured the band's second ever live show, part of the annual Hamtramck Blowout festival, March 10, 2001.

Even though it would be a couple of years before some of these songs found their way to an album, this set was pretty much identical to our first ever show, which happened the night before in the basement of Ann Arbor's Pirate House.

I edited out only long stretches of tuning and the absolutely most embarrassing parts where I talked forever, though there's plenty of embarrassing talking still intact. The live set took a long time to work out, and we did the introduction the same as it's heard here before someone pointed out that it sounded like an instrumental cover of Radiohead's "Creep".
